Senior Data Engineer/Architect

Our client, a forward thinking insurance company, is seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer/Architect to join their team, hit the ground running, and help drive to success. This is a permanent/direct hire position.

What will you do?

  • Construct a holistic view of the cloud data infrastructure needed to run the business and collaborate with technology and business partners to incorporate that into their roadmap
  • Designing and developing while ensuring availability, scalability and reliability.
  • Strategic planning and execution of all aspects of data architecture including establishment of current and future state architecture and transformational roadmap in alignment with business strategy
  • Instituting a data architecture and governance discipline to advance rapid delivery of products and data insights
  • Discover, design and develop data flows, data pipelines, databases, and data lakes, to support the organization's data needs.
  • Design data models, data standards, and business glossary
  • Develop and optimize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into a consistent format, and load it into the data ecosystem.
  • Researches new technologies while keeping up-to-date with technological developments in relevant areas of Data Governance, Master Data, and Data Quality

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Previous experience engineering and leading data initiatives (data profiling, improvement, accuracy, completeness, integrity, security, stewardship, and governance)
  • Proficient skills and knowledge of data quality tools, data quality disciplines and technologies to standardize and maintain control over master data
  • Knowledge of modeling conventions for both data (data models) and process (data flow diagrams and process models)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with SQL and database technologies.
  • Solid understanding of distributed computing principles and big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Hive.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with ETL, data modeling
