The QA tester works closely with the software team to verify the user interface and functionality of complex website components running in various desktop and mobile browser environments. The ideal candidate should be self-directed, team oriented, and have a passion for understanding how customers really use various applications. This person should have a passion for breaking things and be exhilarated when discovering really interesting bugs. In addition, he or she will have to be comfortable with repetitive testing. The ideal candidate will have a background in website testing or will have reported defects with web-based applications in their professional career daily.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Web software testing including possible browser and device compatibility testing
• Understand the purpose of the software being tested and how it is used by end users which will inform the test cases the QA Tester will document.
• Document system defects/issues in issue tracking software
• Execute and run detailed test cases and test in-depth software functionality and client implementations
• Error reporting and documentation of test results
• Attend all team standup meetings, sprint related meetings, and give feedback on test statuses on user stories that are in test.

 

Skills and Abilities:

• Good understanding of test methodologies, running test suites and test cases
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum team
• Proficient with testing on Windows, Mac OS, tablet and mobile devices if necessary.
• Strong focus on details and accuracy
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to understand complicated tasks, research new technologies and technical problems independently.
• Experience with reporting software for tracking bugs and/or issues
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

 

Required experience:

• Software Testing: 1 year +

• Associates degree or higher or 2+ years of software testing experience as a substitute
