POSITION SUMMARY

The International Coastal Cleanup Events Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of key programmatic events including signature beach cleanups and global partner conferences. The Events Specialist will work alongside members of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) team to organize and deliver world-class volunteer events while simultaneously striving to engage companies and communities around the world to grow the global recognition of the Ocean Conservancy brand. This position will be responsible for coordinating across time zones with employees in offices throughout the US, as well as international partners.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support organization for all International Coastal Cleanup Program events including TeamSEAS beach cleanups, large meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare for the successful execution of world-class volunteer events from pre-planning to post-event reporting. This includes but is not limited to: identifying an event location, researching new partners, conducting outreach via phone and email, securing vendors, onsite setup and providing consistent, thorough and proactive updates on event progress.
  • Attend and facilitate all details of Ocean Conservancy signature cleanup events to guarantee all logistics and partner needs are handled and managed at the highest level of professionalism.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to implement signature cleanups, global meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare customized reports after each event summarizing both quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  • Maintain timely and professional internal and external correspondence via email, phone calls and video chat while traveling domestically and internationally.
  • Manage external relationships by providing support, information, and guidance while enforcing organization standards.
  • Help identify opportunities to expand partner engagement opportunities.
  • Exhibit respect and excellent service to Ocean Conservancy’s internal and external partners, ICC network and supporters through prompt, professional and courteous communication.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a professional work setting.
  • Knowledge of events or customer service required.
  • Desire to explore new geographies, as 60-70% travel is expected.
  • Expertise using the suite of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Previous experience living, working or traveling outside of the US.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and language abilities.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders and account management.
  • Proven experience effectively working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Detail-orientated and highly dependable, responsible and organized.
  • Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously, with speed, accuracy, and courtesy.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly solve problems, meet goals, and successfully execute tasks under high stress situations.
  • Familiarity working with volunteers preferred.
  • Solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Passion for the marine environment and a commitment to eliminating trash from the ocean.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma, college degree preferred.

COMPENSATION

Ocean Conservancy is committed to equity in its pay practices and posts expected hiring ranges for each of its positions. Salary minimum is $51,809; salary midpoint is $64,787. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background.
