Are you an experienced commercial construction Estimator with      7 or more years experience?  Consider joining a well established Commercial Building Contractor along the Gulf Coast with over $100 million in annual revenues. Our Client has an opening for a Lead Estimator in their Greater New Orleans Office.   The successful candidate will be  responsible for estimating projects which include all conceptual, negotiated and competitive bid estimates, and interfacing with Project Management, all support teams, and client relations to achieve precise and accurate estimates. The Lead Estimator reports to the Director of Preconstruction and has Estimator direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops accurate forecasting of the cost, size, and duration of future construction projects
  • Assists project management in initial sequencing of schedules, outlining components of labor, materials and equipment
  • Reads and understands construction drawings in order to provide a detailed quantity survey of construction components and activities and assemble bid-packages for subcontractor pricing and contract development
  • Assembles detailed spreadsheets in computer-based applications of budget estimate for transference into network project management software system
  • Analyzes bids from subcontractors, writes subcontracts, and completes project buyout
  • Acts as the “Bid Manager” of the bidding process and works with the “Technical Lead” during the bidding process
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned periodically by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in Construction Management, Engineering, or related curriculum or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in estimating/pre-construction role for a commercial general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software programs.
  • Solid skills in the areas of math, budgeting, financial analysis, as well as excellent teamwork, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills.
