Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled Risk Control Manager to oversee risk analysis and reporting within the Gas, LNG, and Dry Bulks trading sectors. This leadership role involves managing a team of Middle Office Analysts, ensuring accurate risk assessments, and maintaining compliance with trading limits and regulatory requirements. The position requires collaboration with various departments to support informed decision-making and drive operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Front Office to evaluate and communicate the risk impact of transactions, providing insights to guide strategic decisions based on thorough market analysis.
- Supervise and develop a team of 3-5 Middle Office Analysts, managing daily activities and conducting performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Back Office, Finance, Credit, Legal, and Internal Control teams to ensure risk management practices align with compliance standards and drive operational enhancements.
- Oversee internal risk limits, ensure compliance with policies, and handle approvals for non-standard transactions.
- Design and implement Middle Office risk policies and procedures to support business growth and address potential risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for trading-related inquiries, assist traders with complex trade modeling, and ensure detailed reporting.
- Lead the accurate and independent analysis, valuation, and reporting of risk positions and trading outcomes.
- Track and report operational risk incidents, including near-misses and failures, and promote a proactive risk management culture.
- Collaborate with global teams in Geneva and Singapore to support international risk control practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert on North American Gas and other commodities, working closely with Power and other commodity teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred).
- Deep understanding of the energy sector, commodity trading, risk management, and financial principles.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mid-office role within commodity trading, with experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity preferred.
- Knowledge of North American Gas and LNG markets, including fundamentals of pipelines, storage, trading, and shipping.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in risk management techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a proven track record in team development.
