A key Optimus retail power/gas client in the Montrose area of Houston is looking for a 1–3-year Natural Gas Scheduler. This is a bit of a hybrid role, where you buy/sell for the day, manage the storage and own the book/balance everything. The client is in office daily with a ½ day on Fridays. Parking and lunch provided daily.

What you will do:
- Execute buy/sell trades and schedule near-term physical natural gas to ensure timely and accurate delivery from upstream suppliers to end-user utilities.
- Build and optimize supply portfolios by leveraging FT, IT, hub wheeling, park and loan agreements, and imbalance management strategies.
- Proactively track and relay critical pipeline operational notices to internal teams, ensuring timely communication of updates that may impact gas flow or scheduling.
- Coordinate bidweek activity by aligning supply and transportation needs, and manage pipeline constraints by monitoring and responding to Operational Flow Orders (OFOs) to maintain system balance and compliance.
- Monitor daily customer usage and adjust nominations to optimize imbalance positions, while identifying and resolving volume discrepancies with pipelines, ISOs, and RTOs to ensure accurate allocations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with pipelines, LDCs, suppliers, traders, and peer schedulers; actively engage in industry events to expand network and stay informed on market dynamics.
- Oversee multiple natural gas storage contracts, optimizing injection and withdrawal schedules to maximize efficiency and align with market conditions.
- Reconcile transposition invoices and perform additional operational tasks as needed, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree
- MS Office proficiency: Word, Excel (advanced), Outlook, Access
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments w/ competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and soft skills
- Ability to be in office daily
- Some technical ability: SQL, Tableau, Optimization models, etc.
- Ability to independently research and gain a complete understanding of the operational and commercial aspects of LDC tariffs
