A key Optimus client is seeking a Manager level professional for their commodities Structuring team.  This team is part of a broader commercial analytics function which also includes fundamentals, transmission analysis and asset performance analytics.  Structuring includes a significant portfolio of power transactions including load following transactions at the C&I level.

 

Responsibilities:

• Strong knowledge of complex power transactions including tolling and full requirements term power supply
• Experience breaking down the risk components of structured transactions for valuation
• Working with commercial teams to determine an effective hedge program for structured transactions
• Developing, maintaining and improving models
• Working with Origination to support pricing and modeling of new transaction types
• Providing analytical support for back testing of transactions for pricing effectiveness
• Assisting in special projects as needed

 

Requirements:

• 5 or more years' experience in energy commodities with at least 2 in structuring
• Strong knowledge of the power markets including tolling and full requirements load following transaction characteristics
• Experience in one of more ISOs in North America
• Strong modeling and technical skills with VBA, R, Python, SQL or similar technologies
• Excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to manage competing and concurrent deadlines
• A bachelor's degree in a business discipline with an advanced degree a plus
