Our client, a Licensed and Insured Indianapolis Building Cleaning Service is currently seeking to hire a full time permanent Day Porter.
Day Porter/Custodian Job DescriptionÂ
We provide cleaning services for schools in the greater Indianapolis area. Day porters / custodians are moving and on their feet the entire shift length (3 - 8 hours). Walking, bending and squatting are done throughout the shift. Comfortable shoes - are a must (NO SANDALS). Please wear comfortable shoes. You will work independently while operating as part of a crew at a single location.
Requirements:
- Must have the ability to effectively and positively communicate with clients and fellow employees/supervisors
- Prompt and consistent attendance is critical
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform duties with restricted communications while in client areas
- Good physical health - job requires good fitness/strength, including an ability to walk throughout the day and move heavier loads (up to 35lbs.) as required
There are 2 shifts available
Day Shift- Monday thru Friday 8am-4:30pm
Evening Shift- Monday thru Friday 5:00pm-9:30pm
Rate of Pay: $11.50 per hour
Responsibilities:
Janitorial closet:
- Ensure supplies are neatly stored
- Make sure equipment is in good condition
- Monitor consumable inventory to ensure adequate cleaning supplies are available for both day and evening cleaning
Entrance / Lobby area:
- Keep glass doors free of smudges and hand prints
- Vacuum carpeted entrance areas
- Dust baseboards / door jams / window sills
- Empty trash receptacles
- Remove debris and spider webs from corners
- Dust lobby seats, tables and lamps
- Clean elevator floors, ensure panels are free of handprints, scuffs and smudges
Common Area Restrooms
- Clean lids, seats, bases and bowls of toilets
- Ensure urinals are clean and in good condition
- Clean and fill all dispensers in all restrooms
- Ensure mirrors are cleaned
- Clean sinks and countertops
- Wipe down and dust partitions
- Spot mop and machine clean floors as need throughout the shift
- All corners should be kept free of cobwebs and debris
- Stock sanitary napkin dispensers
- Dust overhead vents
- Check air fresheners and refill as needed
- Ensure toilet paper in each restroom is adequately stocked
Other Common Areas
- Vacuum and polish elevator tracks
- Exterior window ledges of entrances areas must be dusted and wiped clean
- Mop stairwells as needed
- All supply boxes must be broken down and placed in recycling receptacles
- Sweep and clean all stairwells as needed
Exterior
- Keep all loose trash and debris picked up
- Remove any human or pet waste if needed
- Touch up all outside stairwells as needed
- Empty trash urns
