The team at ParkerBeth Search, your go-to for construction recruitment, is working alongside one of our premier clients in the solar industry in search of a skilled Junior/Assistant Superintendent with an electrical background.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Position Overview:

The Junior/Assistant Superintendent will ensure a timely, accurate, and within-budget buildout of assigned solar project(s) with the assigned project team. The project team will include, but is not limited to, the client Project Manager, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors. All work at the project site shall be completed while always adhering to company safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with subcontractors and assigned project managers to review and adhere to a 3-week “look ahead” schedule.
  • Review all materials received for a job to ensure correct part numbers and quantities as per released construction docs, within 24 hours of material receipt.
  • Conduct/supervise weekly job site safety training, and maintain safety awareness and an overall culture of safety among all field employees.
  • Maintain OSHA and company standards for safety in all areas and maintain job site safety records and documentation.
  • Maintain company quality standards through the daily execution of quality control procedures and use of tools, reports, quality management software, RFIs, and other tools as prescribed by the Director of Quality Management and assigned project management.
  • Ensure quality is built into the project during construction, evidenced by minimizing RFI’s, the lack of excessive punch list/remediation items at the end of a job, and other issues that increase costs, cause completion delays, or loss of performance/reliability/site management ability.
  • Maintain an overall culture of quality through leadership and action.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are always stored safely and securely, and the site is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Always onsite when work is performed by any work crew relevant to the assigned solar job.
  • Ensure that all pre-commissioning requirements and other completion milestones are met in a timely fashion

Qualifications and Expectations:

  • Strong Electrical knowledge required
  • Strong understanding of electrical wiring, theory, and the trade -
  • Previous field management or foreman experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and edit (red-line) electrical, civil and structural plans
  • Strong understanding of the NEC Code and the ability to reference the code as required
  • Knowledge of Universal Building Codes and building materials and techniques
  • Experience installing or managing solar construction projects is a plus
  • Understanding of grid-tied PV system design
  • Leadership skills – ability to organize, utilize, and motivate team members quickly to respond to changes in the construction schedule and scope
  • Effective at problem-solving and implementing site-specific design modifications
  • Experience working with city/county permitting offices and inspectors
  • Proficiency in a computer (Excel, Gmail, Procore, and other tools)
  • Ability to work long hours as required for the installation by subcontractors to work to optimal efficiency daily
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Northern California or out of state if needed.
