Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and support the development of engineering and construction packages for facility expansion and build-outs. The role will be the primary lead on specification of fixed/rotating equipment including pumps, piping, storage tanks, and pressure vessels. This role reports to the Director of Engineering.
Job Responsibilities:
• Design and specify piping systems between unit operations.
• Specify process equipment including pumps, tanks, and vessels.
• Review and approve Vendor/Contractor vessel calculations.
• Make recommendations on other equipment as necessary based on relevant codes and standards.
• Develop maintenance procedures for pumps, tanks, vessels, and piping.
• Develop inspection plans for pumps, tanks, vessels, and piping.
• Develop piping specification standards for different systems.
• Make recommendations for additional equipment as necessary.
• Ensure designs and details are safe for field erection and use, with constructability in mind.
• Review and approve Vendor/Contractor vessel calculations.
• Participate in the review of Management of Changes, PHA Action Requests, Construction Information Requests, and Change Order Requests.
• Lead equipment vendor qualification process for new fabricators.
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting applications.
Basic Qualifications:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience with piping design and fixed/rotating equipment specifications.
• Must be willing and able to travel 10%.
