Senior SCADA Engineer (Hybrid)
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Are you a highly skilled Senior SCADA Engineer ready to drive critical infrastructure? We are seeking a passionate problem-solver who thrives on tackling complex challenges, ensuring robust and compliant supervisory control and data acquisition systems.
In this hybrid role, you'll operate with significant autonomy, taking ownership of projects from conception to completion. You'll be instrumental in shaping system architecture, integrating new technologies, and ensuring the seamless performance of critical control systems across various project phases.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the full lifecycle of SCADA systems: From initial design and architectural planning to commissioning, ongoing maintenance, and complex troubleshooting for diverse operational assets.
- Innovate and integrate: Design, deploy, and rigorously test control systems for new installations, ensuring strict compliance with relevant interconnection and operational standards.
- Build robust data pathways: Design sophisticated data interfaces connecting software products, control systems, SCADA platforms, and discrete devices like RTUs and data historians using various protocols.
- Optimize and standardize: Proactively retrofit aging SCADA infrastructure with robust, standardized solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Configure and commission: Expertly configure controllers, protection relays, and network switches for deployment, alongside programming and commissioning automation equipment to support automatic transfer schemes, grid control (voltage/frequency), and overall site control.
- Problem-solve and restore: Swiftly troubleshoot all system-level and central monitoring SCADA issues, with an emphasis on rapid service restoration.
- Provide expert guidance: Offer technical expertise and solutions for a wide range of engineering problems, often extending beyond typical scope.
- Drive project success: Effectively plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities to achieve key business goals and objectives, independently managing project schedules and interfaces.
- Collaborate and communicate: Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external vendors, ensuring seamless coordination and clear communication.
- Maintain excellence: Prepare detailed and accurate technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches, ensuring thorough record-keeping.
- Contribute to 24/7 support: Participate in a monthly rotation for an emergency & ticketing on-call system, providing critical system support.
What You'll Bring:
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with 3+ years of related work experience.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree in Engineering will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Desired Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree specifically in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- 6+ years of directly related work experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in core engineering theories and principles.
- A proven track record in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, and effectively presenting recommendations.
- Strong command of project management principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Prior experience in a utility or power generation context.
