CONTEXT: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of their organization, which is currently home to over 350 employees and is continuing to grow.The Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, and compliance.
This position requires a detail-oriented, analytical leader with a strong background in accounting principles and financial management in a growing, mid-size organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving efficiency, improving financial controls, and supporting strategic financial decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and manage timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Coordinate and support external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business decisions.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and identification of key financial drivers.
- Manage the company’s cash flow, liquidity, and working capital requirements.
- Implement and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and strategic initiatives.
- Supervise, train, and develop a high-performing team of accounting professionals.
- Oversee tax compliance and ensure timely and accurate submission of tax filings, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and other relevant filings.4
- Support system upgrades or changes, providing financial insight during the implementation and testing phases.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
