CONTEXT: Our client is looking for an eager Data Technician I to assist in the installation, maintenance, and routing of cables for various systems, including telecommunications, electrical, and network infrastructures. This entry-level position involves working under the guidance of experienced technicians to ensure that cables are properly installed and secured, following safety protocols and industry standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in pulling, routing, and securing cables through conduits, trays, and other pathways.
- Prepare cables for installation by stripping, cutting, and terminating as directed by senior technicians.
- Ensure proper installation practices to maintain cable integrity and performance.
- Set up and dismantle work areas, including ladders, scaffolding, and other necessary equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site, including proper handling and disposal of materials.
- Inspect and test cables to verify proper installation and functionality.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Adhere to company policies, industry standards, and local regulations related to cable installation and maintenance.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Work closely with senior technicians and other team members to complete tasks efficiently.
- Communicate effectively regarding progress, issues, and needs during the installation process.
- Assist with training and support of junior technicians as needed.
- Document cable routes, installations, and any issues encountered during the installation process.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in construction or job site experience.
- Basic understanding of cable types, tools, and installation techniques.
- Previous experience in cable pulling or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity for handling tools and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following instructions.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and practices in construction or electrical work.
