CONTEXT: Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales and expand market share in the construction and oilfield equipment rental industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and executing sales strategies, fostering strong client relationships, and closing deals in the construction and/or oil & gas sectors. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to grow rental sales in the construction and oilfield sectors.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and prospecting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, and industry professionals in both the construction and oil & gas industries.
  • Conduct regular site visits and meetings with clients to understand their needs and recommend appropriate equipment rental solutions.
  • Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery, service, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Negotiate rental contracts and terms with clients to maximize profitability and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and quotes to prospective clients.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to adjust strategies and stay ahead of market demands.
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote the company and develop new business.
  • Track sales performance, report on progress, and set quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, campaigns, and initiatives that drive brand visibility and lead generation.
  • Work closely with senior management to set long-term sales goals and contribute to the company’s overall growth strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements related to equipment rentals in the construction and oilfield sectors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the equipment rental industry, specifically in construction and/or oil and gas.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and oilfield equipment (e.g., pumps, generators, cranes, scaffolding, etc.).
  • Ability to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close complex deals.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales tools.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms, pricing models, and rental agreements.
  • Ability to travel to client sites and industry events as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Existing network of contacts and relationships within the construction and oilfield industries.
  • Experience with heavy equipment rentals and fleet management.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety regulations and best practices.
