CONTEXT: Our client is seeking an experienced Shop Manager - Rentals to oversee the operations of their service shop. This role involves leading a team of technicians, managing equipment and inventory, coordinating repairs and maintenance, and ensuring high-quality customer service. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to conflict resolution to drive team success and operational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily operations of the service shop, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows.
- Recruit, train, and manage both technicians and administrative staff.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and regulations in all activities.
- Coordinate and manage equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, service history, and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate closely with sales and procurement teams to forecast equipment needs and align inventory.
- Address customer requirements, concerns, and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
- Manage service-related costs, budgets, and expenses.
- Provide detailed performance reports on service operations, inventory, and repairs.
- Navigate and resolve conflicts within the team effectively, fostering a positive work environment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience managing a service shop or maintenance facility, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
- Prior experience as a mechanic combined with management experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of oil and gas equipment (pumps, compressors, generators, etc.).
- Proficiency in using software tools for inventory management, maintenance tracking, and other service operations.
- Exceptional leadership abilities, with a focus on managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and fostering high performance.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage conflict within the team.
- Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry.
- Preferred: Certification in diesel mechanics or a similar technical certification.
