CONTEXT: Our client is seeking an experienced Shop Manager - Rentals to oversee the operations of their service shop. This role involves leading a team of technicians, managing equipment and inventory, coordinating repairs and maintenance, and ensuring high-quality customer service. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to conflict resolution to drive team success and operational efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily operations of the service shop, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows.
  • Recruit, train, and manage both technicians and administrative staff.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and regulations in all activities.
  • Coordinate and manage equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, service history, and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and procurement teams to forecast equipment needs and align inventory.
  • Address customer requirements, concerns, and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
  • Manage service-related costs, budgets, and expenses.
  • Provide detailed performance reports on service operations, inventory, and repairs.
  • Navigate and resolve conflicts within the team effectively, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience managing a service shop or maintenance facility, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
  • Prior experience as a mechanic combined with management experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of oil and gas equipment (pumps, compressors, generators, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using software tools for inventory management, maintenance tracking, and other service operations.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with a focus on managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and fostering high performance.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to manage conflict within the team.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry.
  • Preferred: Certification in diesel mechanics or a similar technical certification.
