Director of Nursing Services

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. In collaboration with facility administration, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility. Upholds all company values, mission and purpose to support the culture of the company.
Essential functions and responsibilities
Responsible for oversight and management of the Nursing Department, including planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating clinical services provided to residents in accordance with facility policies, state and federal regulations.
Supports and practices the philosophy, objectives and standards of the nursing department and participates in the revision of these as necessary to ensure quality of care.
ADNS Management: Ensures ADNS adheres to federal and state regulations under the direction of the DNS.
Care Planning Management: Ensures each resident has an MDS and a care plan developed, implemented and evaluated within state and federal regulations. Each care plan will meet the resident’s highest level of well-being, including personal, physical and cognitive needs as well as maximize their self care capacities, identity, independence, choice and opportunity for social interaction. Coordinates interdisciplinary resident care management efforts.
Staff Development Management: Ensures every nursing staff member meets the mandated state and federal requirements. Ensures adequate training to carry out daily activities to meet the individual needs of each resident and the needs of the facility.
Infection Control Management: Ensures a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees and visitors. Ensures the use of personal protective equipment as indicated.
