Foundry Process Engineer

Role Definition:

The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) in Hodges, SC is looking for a Foundry Process Engineer to join the team. The incumbent will have the primary goal of supporting the Quality Management System within the assigned operational area, by providing expertise and advice on production or product problems fed back from both internal and external customers. The incumbent may also conduct investigations, analyze information, and facilitate teams dealing with issues/projects associated with resolution of quality problems. A successful candidate will be able to improve industrial processes to optimize quality of foundry processes and casting products.

What you will do (includes but not limited to):

  • Collaborate to improve foundry practices and processes using quality methodologies.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting to metallurgical lab and other departments on foundry processes.
  • Conduct defect analysis and deliver technical solutions to improve product quality and controls.
  • Support products reliability projects and customer satisfaction through support of the NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) programs.
  • Research, develop, and audit foundry processes to ensure product quality improvements.
  • Monitor the process performance throughout foundry operations.
  • Developing routines and best practices to ensure product quality.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Metallurgical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Extensive experience in process engineering
  • Worked in a foundry environment previously
  • Quality Management: Extensive experience in quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Collaborating: Working knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Working knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change.
  • Problem Solving: Working knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Working knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Extensive experience using concepts, principles, and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.
