Accounting Manager

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure. 
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations with the Senior Controller.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the month end close accrual process. 
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. 
  • Assist the Assistant Controller with the external audit process, liaising with external auditors to address inquiries and facilitate a smooth audit. 
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment. 
  • Prepare and maintain the month end close schedule, book journal entries, and ensure that all monthly transactions are reported accurately. 
  • Ensure that all reconciliations are accurately maintained and include all applicable backup. 
  • Review of the Accounts Payable and Payroll transactions. 
  • Team with the Senior Controller on the monthly Revenue and Gross to Net Calculations. 
  • Work with the Senior Controller on the monthly management of inventory. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (BASIC QUALIFICATIONS):

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA preferred. 
  • 4-6 years industry experience. 
  • Experience with Clinical Trials, manufacturing, or commercial pharmaceuticals preferred. 
  • Experience with NetSuite and Concur preferred. 
  • Prior experience with accounting system implementations is preferred.
  • Experience with SOX compliance is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as an Advanced MS Excel user required – Pivot Tables/Charts, VLOOKUP, SUMIF Functions, etc. and other MS Office applications – Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and the absolute ability to provide quality work product in a deadline-driven environment. 
  • High degree of attention to detail. 
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills (written and verbal), high service orientation, and ability to thrive in a collaborative, flexible culture. 
  • Ability to effectively work independently, collaboratively, and cross-functionally. 
  • Possess a firm understanding of U.S. GAAP and practices of accrual-based accounting and maintaining financial records.
