Purchasing Inventory Control Coordinator

The Purchasing and Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for the purchasing of approved products based on inventory minimum and maximum levels and for maintaining the accuracy of physical inventory and achieving inventory turn and gross profit percentage objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purchase approved products based on min/max set levels.
  • Issue purchase orders and control inventory levels.
  • Maintain accuracy of physical inventory through on-going cycle counts, researching any variances and identifying sources of errors and processing adjustments.
  • Meet with vendors and negotiates pricing as well as marketing/rebate programs.
  • Negotiate price, lead time, marketing/rebate programs and service with all vendors.
  • Identify and reduce slow and dead inventory items.
  • Assist sales force to locate and bring in new products for a customer, pricing, printing layouts/approvals, etc. in accordance with company policy.
  • Prepare flyers for use by sales reps to present to customers.
  • Keep abreast of market and product developments.
  • Reconciling invoices and accounting discrepancies.
  • Conduct searches for new suppliers of goods and services.
  • Keep abreast of market and product developments.
  • Maintain SDS data.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • High school diploma minimum, college attendance preferred; plus 2 to 3 years’ experience in the purchasing department of a wholesale distribution or retail trade company.
  • Knowledge of PC required with strong spreadsheet capabilities essential.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English well; strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills needed for dealing effectively with outside vendors, and internally with sales / customer service personnel.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills including but not limited to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or type; reaching with hands and arms.
