Job Description - Sales Representative

The Sales Representative is the agent for the outside direct sales of the company's products and services and is responsible for developing sales leads, conducting needs analysis, making formal presentations, and managing accounts.

The Sales Representative is expected to safely and successfully perform the function of selling packaging solutions in a designated territory.

 

Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and sales
  • Partner closely with General Manager to establish new target accounts
  • Aggressively target volume growth from assigned and new accounts
  • Partners closely with Designer(s) to create packaging solutions that fit the needs of the customer and the manufacturing capabilities of the plant
  • Effectively communicate with Customer Service regarding customer requirements and special needs
  • Provide management with regular updates and reports on sales activities
  • Assure continued profitability and growth of existing accounts
  • Assists in collection of delinquent accounts within the base of assigned accounts
  • Partners closely with Customer Service to offer world class service to customers on any order placed
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers by phone
  • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features
  • Delivers price quotes and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts
  • Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date
  • Tracks stock levels
  • Coordinates customer training
  • Supplies new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database
  • Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries
  • Attends trade shows
