Managing Content Editor- Tuck Sleep

Tuck is seeking a skilled Managing Editor to help drive our content efforts. Your work will power all of the content and the development of Tuck sleep as a premier brand in the space as well as some of our additional portfolio sites.

The desired candidate will combine the creative thinking of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager. You should be able to suggest ideas for stories and see them through to publication. You thrive by developing ideas in collaboration and individually. And you have experience working with multiple streams of content and priorities in order to continually deliver on the editorial pipeline for enjoyable, SEO optimized content for our audiences. We expect excellent organizational and leadership skills as well as a unique problem-solving ability. You will be able to take our current content and editorial strategy and bring it to life with internal and external resources. As a result of your efforts, we should see healthy growth of our channels and audiences, and you know how to optimize in order to achieve this.

Located in the heart of downtown Seattle, Tuck is a venture-backed startup in the exciting sleep space that gives consumers a place gain access to accurate, up-to-date sleep health and unbiased product information. Simply put, Tuck aims to become the number one destination on the web for anything and everything sleep.

 Editorial Direction and Management:

  • Maintain and manage editorial calendar for Tuck and additional sites, balancing new content creation with updates to maintain freshness and timeliness
  • Build and manage a pool of freelance writers and editors who contribute to and additional sites
  • Build and and manage an advisory team of sleep professionals (MDs, licensed therapists and counselors, etc.)
  • Control schedules and enforce deadlines (for writers, photographers, designers etc.)
  • Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary
  • Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style and tone
  • Work closely with General Manager to ensure that content production matches capacity and quality

 Product/Content Strategy:

  •  Use and conduct audience research to create content that amplifies Tuck Sleep’s brand voice and is optimized for SEO
  •  Plan and approve assignments for writers and editors

 Content Execution and Publishing:

  • Work with designers to oversee data viz, illustration and photography projects for Tuck and additional sites 
  • Oversee all weekly publishing goals on Tuck and additional sites

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years experience with web content, content research and/or web marketing
  • Bachelor degree in communications, economics, business, history, english or equivalent experience
  • General knowledge of SEO principles
  • Strong project management skills with concrete examples of end-to-end execution
  •  Ability to meet and set tight project deadlines
  •  Experience working with high volume editorial content

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert-level, continuously updated knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable experience with: content wireframes, content roadmaps, editorial calendars,
  • content workflows, content training programs, and related skillsets
  • Strong understanding of updated UX best practices across devices

Strong to advanced knowledge of SEO tools:

  • Google Analytics
  • Screaming Frog
  • SEMrush
  • Link indexes
  • Background in health, wellness, sleep related content
