Analyst, Portfolio Optimization & Allocations - Asset Management

Global investment management firm is seeking a sharp Analyst, Portfolio Optimization & Allocations to join its Los Angeles based investment team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the broader portfolio management functions including asset-liability management, asset allocation, liquidity management, and portfolio optimization. Accountabilities:

  • Assist with daily portfolio management activities such as allocations, liquidity management, and balancing asset liability metrics; serve as link between the portfolio management team, trading desks, liquidity management group, and operations for daily and monthly reporting, compliance and performance purposes
  • Understand various client account needs to support portfolio allocation and construction activities, including investment guidelines limitations, cash and liquidity considerations, and risk tolerance
  • Evaluate portfolio positioning and determine appropriate asset mix to rebalance portfolios
  • Interact with Portfolio Managers on optimization of the asset portfolio in prevailing market conditions
  • Prepare investment-related reports and presentations for senior investment professionals, senior management, board of directors, ratings agencies
  • Participate in team and departmental projects and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics or other technical/quantitative field from a top-tier university or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in fixed income, treasury, or insurance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must; Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative on tasks and responsibilities; Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; VBA, SQL, Python and programming skills are a differentiator
