To stay on the cutting edge of innovation, they launched an automation division focused on designing and integrating automation to help make manufacturers and distributors more productive.

We are seeking to hire an experienced Controller to join their team in their state-of-the-art facility in Sparrows Point, MD. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s in accounting or finance and at least ten years’ experience as a financial leader in a distribution or manufacturing environment. We are looking for a strong leader who is tactical and hands-on to oversee and mentor their team focusing on improvement and professional development. This person will report directly to, and work closely with the President on financial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the monthly closing process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage department level transactions, recording and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), ASC 805 (Business Combinations), and ASC 842 (Leases).
  • Lead ERP integration projects to streamline financial processes and improve system efficiency.
  • Manage treasury functions, including cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants for the annual reviewed financial statements and tax returns.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings in Maryland and surrounding states.
  • Oversee the administration of the company’s 401k plan.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting, purchasing, HR and IT teams (five direct reports), fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Support the President in various financial and operational initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management.
  • Assist in the evaluation and execution of asset-based lending transactions and other financing activities.
  • Oversee costing activities, ensuring accurate allocation of costs to products and services.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by ownership, offering assistance when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager within distribution or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems and experience with ERP integration projects.
  • Excellent treasury management skills, including cash flow forecasting and investment strategies.
  • Experience with costing and cost allocation processes.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Compensation: $100,000-$130,000
