Role Priorities:

Directly responsible for planning, purchasing, tracking, and maintaining inventory levels. Perform professional and analytical tasks that establishes and maintains profitable inventory to include: Key market analytics, purchase order execution, analytical reporting, bid coordination, strategic planning initiatives, and negotiations. Assist in developing strategies and tactics for improving operational efficiencies, improving overall profitability and mitigation of contractual risk.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist in negotiating contractual agreements with current and potential suppliers.
  • Optimize inventory performance (fill rate) while maximizing turns.
  • Purchase assigned lines of products from vendors.
  • Coordinate and optimize all inter-branch transfers to include inventory review, communication between customer service and operations.
  • Capture and evaluate supplier performance, to include: Pricing, lead time, fill rate and adherence to terms.
  • Analyze all at risk items for key accounts daily and recommend actions needed.
  • Run reports weekly and monthly to analyze inventory position for overstocks and increases by category, vendor and category manager; making recommendations for suggested actions.
  • Run reports daily to aid in the review and analysis of root cause analysis for backorders to include month-over-month reviews, ABC and vendor reviews.
  • Process all sample requests to include vendor follow-ups, when needed.
  • Assist with Demand Planning (ERP) maintenance and reporting.
  • Analyze slow moving items/Life Cycle Management and recommend actions for improvement.
  • Assist with purchase order acknowledgements as directed, expedite missing or late purchase orders and manage back order report.
  • Confirm delivery appointments as needed.

 

Role Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years similar experience within inventory management and/or purchasing.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Strong computer skills (ERP, Advanced MS Excel, SHIMS )
  • Problem solver.
  • Multitasker.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
