Position Summary:
The Estimator will play a crucial role in our project planning and execution by preparing accurate, competitive bids for civil construction projects in the utility sector. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in estimating civil projects, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. This role involves site visits, pre-bid meetings, and direct collaboration with project managers to ensure each project is set up for success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in pricing and scope.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid and project planning meetings to assess project requirements and potential risks.
- Coordinate with project management teams to refine and develop project strategies and estimates.
- Maintain detailed records of bid documentation, cost data, and project status updates.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments to gather cost information and verify material and labor costs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, costs, and competitive pricing to ensure accurate and effective project bids.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in estimating and/or project management, with a focus on civil construction projects.
- Proven background in estimating projects within the electric and gas utility sectors is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to conduct site visits as required.
