Job Title: Estimator – Utility & Civil Construction

Location: Syracuse, NY (On-site)

Job Type: Full-time

Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (M-F)

Pay Range: $90,000 – $125,000 per year (based on experience)

For nearly 50 years, our client has been a trusted provider of utility construction services. Their work includes aerial line construction, fiber optic installation, substation and civil-electric infrastructure, and other large-scale utility projects. Known for operational excellence and a commitment to safety, the company has built lasting relationships with a blue-chip customer base. As the company continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to support bidding and pricing efforts for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Assessment: Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and documentation to determine scope, timeline, and requirements.
  • Cost Analysis: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors to develop accurate project estimates.
  • Bid Preparation: Create and submit competitive bids aligned with company goals and client expectations.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with leadership, project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure complete and accurate estimates.
  • Market Research: Monitor industry pricing, labor trends, and materials costs to maintain accurate and current cost data.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all estimates, proposals, and bid-related materials.
  • Negotiation Support: Assist in discussions with clients and subcontractors to align scope and clarify pricing questions.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

    Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, ideally in utility or civil infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating methodologies.
  • Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must be able to work on-site Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
