Accounting Assistant
Location: Syracuse, NY | On-Site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Base Salary: $60,000 - $70,000

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with 2–5 years of experience who is eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
This position reports directly to the Controller and will work closely with leadership and operations team members. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys taking ownership of their work, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is interested in long-term growth within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Support general ledger maintenance and data entry
- Perform detailed data entry supporting state reporting requirements
- Assist with month-end close processes
- Track and allocate project costs including labor, equipment, and materials
- Support job costing analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to ensure accurate financial tracking
- Assist with additional accounting functions and process improvements as needed
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of related experience
- Experience with journal entries and monthly reconciliations
- Exposure to job costing in a construction environment
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar systems) required
- Experience with Foundation software is a significant plus
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
