As the Mid-Level QA Functional Tester, you will obtain and apply technical skill sets and knowledge to develop and employ complete and accurate test plans for implementation of new products and/or application enhancements. You will be responsible for functional and/or interface testing deliverables of enterprise systems. You will also work with minimal supervision and be responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to the manager, and updating the manager on a regular basis. Additionally, you will:

  • Review functional requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Participate in creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured requirements traceability matrix, functional and/or integration test plans, test cases, test data, and expected results for small- to moderate-size projects
  • Review and obtain sign-off of test plans, test cases, and test data with business units to help ensure that all procedures and systems processes employed by the business unit are covered
  • Stay current on trends in our business, information technology, and software quality assurance through networking and training
  • Stay aware of strategies and major operational initiatives
  • Execute functional and/or integration test plans
  • Report, triage, and monitor defects for assigned work
  • Ensure quality metric data is collected and reported on for each release
  • Work with senior SQA team members to identify test cases viable for test automation
  • Follow all IT and SQA standards established
  • Work closely with senior SQA team members, development, and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements
  • Develop effective client and business relationships and credibility
  • Act as a change agent across the enterprise for SQA services
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • At least 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing on moderate to large multi-platform environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology
  • Understanding of functional, integration, data, and/or security testing disciplines
  • Proven ability to identify, define, and quantify problems; collect or interpret data; establish facts; and provide effective solutions for moderate to complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused, and concise manner while following proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical specifications into non-technical business language.
  • Proven development experience of moderate to complex computer system test plans and test cases
  • Demonstrated ability to create test automation scripts with IT approved test automation tools
  • Proven ability to use data comparison/validation tools such as SQL tools
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database applications, and presentation software
  • Proven skills in technical writing, flow charting, and process modeling methods
  • One or more of the following designations or other industry equivalent certification:
    • Current Certified Software Tester (CSTE)
    • Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)
    • Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE)
    • ISTQB Certified Tester, Foundation Level (CTFL)
    • Quality Improvement Associate Certification (CQIA)
    • Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP)
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak workloads or special projects and provide off-hours support
