As the Manager of Software Engineering, you will manage and coordinate resources and processes to deliver software releases of development products while participating in defining the strategy for the development team by driving initiatives that deliver on the company vision. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of developers and serve as a filter for communication from other departments such as Product Management and QA. You will also ensure that architecture and design requirements are being properly executed in a timely manner while keeping coding standards in place. Additionally, you will:

  • Manage a team of 1 to 6 software engineers that architect and design enterprise software products
  • Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software programming applications
  • Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software
  • Oversee projects completely, from requirements document to delivery, including
    • Reviewing user stories
    • Creating acceptance criteria
    • Coordinating with product owner to maintain project visibility and completion estimates
    • Managing change control
  • Assign and manage project tasks and ensure tasks are completed by assigned developers on time and in accordance with standards and guidelines
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Manage time approvals and conduct annual reviews of direct reports
  • Implement and track development timelines and negotiate feature sets with the development leads and product teams
  • Lead and direct the work of others
  • Mentor other developers to improve their development talents

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • At least 7 years of experience in software development, including 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area
  • Ability to lead and manage the progress of a project and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple, dissimilar deliverables and train others on deliverables
  • Experience with HTML,, VB.NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, and SQL (using MySQL and MS SQL database engines)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to develop professionally
  • Strong computer skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously with sufficient efficiency and quality
  • Problem-solving abilities and the ability to meet reasonable deadlines
  • Strong team player with the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships within the organization
  • Expertise with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to understand complex algorithms
  • Ability to work with both onshore and offshore team members
  • Understanding of how a Managed Service Provider (MSP) operates from a business standpoint
  • Great work ethic and a positive attitude
