As the Federal Operation Engineer, you will apply your skills and knowledge to make sure the SaaS environment (US federal) is secured in accordance with cloud security best practices, operated with security in mind, and compliant with internal and external requirements. You will orchestrate, manage, and monitor the Viptela SDWAN cloud infrastructure. You will also be an Agile member of a combined development, test, and operations team, running in short cycles to improve product life cycle and features. Additionally, you will:
- Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations
- Tackle and resolve issues in dev, test, and production environments
- Interact with other team members to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
What You’ll Need to be Successful:
- At least 5 years of customer support experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related technical field
- Experience with private cloud platforms such as VMWare and Openstack
- Deeply motivated Cloud Engineer who is passionate about learning and contributing to the business operations
- Knowledge of operating large-scale SaaS systems
- Ability to ensure and commit to a higher standard of quality than usual in the face of tough customer production situations
- Aptitude to multi-task in a dynamic environment
- Experience moving workloads between private and public clouds
- Strong aptitude and proficiency with Python, Perl, and TCL
- Strong background in Linux/Unix administration
- Established experience operating in a US FedRAMP (or similar) environment
- Flexibility to meet business needs and work a shift rotation (first, second, or third)
- Experience using modern cloud monitoring and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, Alerta, Prometheus)
- Extensive experience working with container technologies, deployment, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Cluster API)
- Skilled in CI/CD pipeline creation and deployment of infrastructure as code in AWS using Terraform
- Experience using configuration management and CI/CD tools (Chef, Team City, Ansible Tower)
- Experience with scripting, including Python and some Perl
- Solid understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) including VPC, ELB/ALB, IAM, KMS, EC2, AWS Config, CloudTrail, and CloudFormation, preferably in both commercial and GovCloud regions
- Networking experience including OSI network layers and TCP/IP
- Knowledge of Federal IT and Cloud security policies, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53
- Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining operational and security procedures and processes (patching, product updates)
- Experience with integration of tools and software for use in operating FedRAMP cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure, Google Cloud)
- US citizenship
