As the Principal Cybersecurity Engineer, you will lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business. You will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. You will also establish and run authoritative technical consultation processes on product cybersecurity and security engineering problems across the embedded electronics and non-IT networked product portfolio. Additionally, you will:

  • Serve as principal decision-maker on the effective mitigation or remediation of identified product cybersecurity issues for fielded systems
  • Establish and drive processes to ensure products implement appropriate cybersecurity controls, features, and requirements per applicable customer requirements, recognized industry standards, and sound engineering practice
  • Oversee and ensure effectiveness of threat and risk assessments to quantify product threat surfaces and attack vectors
  • Recommend and consult on the design of hardware and software controls, system hardening measures, and other risk mitigations to minimize attack surface and support cost-effective field management of security controls
  • Oversee or lead root cause and corrective actions related to cybersecurity defects
  • Ensure effective and efficient integration of new product cybersecurity processes with existing quality, safety, and reliability processes
  • Serve as an industry recognized authority and an inspiration to other technical personnel in defining the state of the art in product cybersecurity
  • Anticipate, apply, adapt, or develop technical security engineering solutions to meet current and future business needs, including adherence to schedules and estimated costs
  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues (cost reduction activities and quality initiatives)
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external customers using reports, records, and letters
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and training to new and experienced engineers

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a software engineering capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information technology, mathematics, computer science, or engineering
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Securing connected/autonomous vehicle systems
    • Design/implementation of secure/measured OS boot technologies
    • Design/implementation of hardware root of trust technologies
    • Design/implementation of cryptographic code signing techniques
    • Securing embedded RTOS-based systems
    • Design/implementation of remote device provisioning/enrollment over wireless networks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding, and capability of the business
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in at least one technical specialty
  • An understanding of electronics and/or software development cycles including budget and process requirements
  • Ability to maintain up to date technical knowledge including market and competitor development
