JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a rapidly growing developer of diverse real estate projects, and is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer. Founded in 2008, they have operations in four states with 3,000 multi-family units and over $650,000,000 of assets under management. Along with our client, Route Networking Group is seeking a strong leader to oversee all financial activities including capital markets and finance, treasury, accounting and controls, financial reporting and tax. The candidate will be an accomplished finance and accounting professional with in-depth knowledge of accounting issues, procedures and terminology of the real estate industry. This position will report to the CEO and will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of all financial operations, reports, accounting, tax returns, budgets, and financial controls. The CFO will also manage administrative aspects of the organization and will assist in supporting acquisitions, dispositions, and development management, and will be heavily involved in the structuring and arranging of project level financing.

Job Responsibilities:

Accounting & Tax

  • Oversee all accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting functions, including the preparation of financial statements for all operating entities, funds, investment properties, and joint ventures
  • Supervise the Controller to manage all accounting functions (G/L, A/P, A/R, P/R, taxes, fixed assets, budgeting) including all aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual closes
  • Strategically staff the accounting function to meet the needs of an expanding business
  • Coordinate annual tax preparation, KI delivery, and manage relationship and service delivery with external tax advisors
  • Liaise with external CPA on complex accounting issues including 1031 exchanges, TIC structures
  • Manage tax compliance and planning for the Company’s legal entities
  • Oversee treasury management functions and the balance sheets of the Company and partnerships
  • Ensure that the Company’s various equity and debt obligations are closely coordinated and managed effectively

Investor Relations

  • Develop investor reporting templates and processes, oversee preparation of waterfall calculations and quarterly partnership distributions
  • Manage communications with capital partners including family offices, joint venture private equity, banks, debt funds, syndicates, etc.
  • Cultivate new equity and debt capital relationships including the preparation of fundraising materials and loan request packages
  • Supervise the use and optimization of investment management software (Juniper Square) including CRM, record keeping, and presentation of offerings

 Asset Management

  • Provide loan closing support, manage loan covenants and maturities, prepare standard financing package to be utilized for project level financing
  • Manage financial compliance requirements with partnership agreements, fund agreements, and loan agreements
  • Assist the Company’s development managers and the asset managers in developing proforma analyses, budgets, and financing requests
  • Lead all risk management including oversight of insurance consultant to manage all insurance requirements and programs at the property, Company, and portfolio levels
  • Prepare investor and lender funding and draw requests

Administration

  • Manage payroll and co-employment relationships
  • Manage corporate banking and treasury relationships
  • Coordinate with COO to maintain best-in-class employee benefits including 401K, healthcare, profit sharing and bonus programs
  • Oversee implementation of and on-going staff level training in property management and construction management software (Yardi Voyager)

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in the field of Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • CPA designation and/or a graduate degree (MBA, MAcc, MBT) are strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in the field of accounting or finance
  • Direct industry experience in property management, development, private equity, family office, etc. is strongly preferred
  • Creative thinker with a strong intellect and the ability to make quick decisions in an effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple direct reports, foster teamwork, and build relationships
  • Comfort working in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment with an interest in building systems from the ground-up
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager preferred
