Senior Credit Manager & Director of Internal Audit

POSITION PURPOSE

As this company has built an over-the-top customer service culture within their business, this role will ensure customers have a positive experience in relation to their credit accounts while limiting the risk taken by the company. The individual will achieve conformity where appropriate among all divisions relating to the AR function, including policies, procedures and best practices, credit applications, payment methods and requirements, AR reporting, and collections protocols. Provides leadership and mentoring for Credit Managers and other associates that directly report to her/him. Engages with senior leaders of the company to ensure proper involvement in credit and collections activities.

This individual will also supervise the assistant credit manager and other related associates. This will include managing the workflow of their employees, creating team schedules, and delegating tasks. Additionally, assessing the work performance of their employees and identifying areas that need improvement, training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles, and setting goals for workers and making sure they comply with the company’s plans and vision.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Credit Management

  • • Develop and maintain an effective credit policy that defines actions, roles, and responsibilities
  • • Develop and maintain accounts receivable reporting systems that measure the company’s credit exposure and result in effective credit decisions
  • • Coordinate timely collection actions that minimize bad debt exposure and losses.
  • • Regularly report division accounts receivable measures and customer payment performance to Chief Financial Officer and division leadership.
  • • Identify, recommend and implement effective approaches to improve results including electronic payments and the utilization of credit insurance and other risk mitigation opportunities.

 

Supervision of Direct Reports

  • Co-author individual development plans with each of the accounting associates.
  • Establish measurable goals for each accounting associate and meet regularly to review status.
  • Manage the workflow to optimize performance and create development opportunities
  • Coordinate the training of new associates
  • Work with associates and the Director of People and Planning to address performance issues

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to frequently bend.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thorough understanding of B2B credit management and best practices
  • Bachelors Degree in a business discipline
  • Minimum 3 years experience in multi-division environment
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, and coaching and performance management skills
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Highly motivated self starter with good problem solving ability
  • Function effectively in MS Word and Excel program operations
  • Complete assigned projects within established timelines and guidelines
