The executive recruiting firm Saenger Associates has been retained to conduct a confidential search for a Director Product Development & Operational Effectiveness for a growing business division our client, a global engineered products OEM with a high-performance culture.

Reporting to the Senior Business Unit Executive, this is a comprehensive individual contributor role with matrixed responsibilities across key areas including marketing, product development, operations and engineering, providing leadership for product and operational excellence, and world class customer engagement.


  • Collaborate across all disciplines – marketing, product development, operations, engineering, BU leadership - to develop and drive product, quality, and customer service improvement initiatives throughout the BU
  • Ensure new products in development are on track to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Work with manufacturing facilities to ensure the quality and operations expectations are clearly communicated and delivered
  • Work with marketing and engineering to recommend product performance and quality specifications and expectations
  • Work with the sales force and manufacturing facilities to deliver demand forecasts for all products
  • Identify and recommend viable technical approaches to solve new product needs


  • Experience in commercial, consumer hard goods industries inclusive of engineered products
  • Diverse career progression across multiple disciplines, including engineering, marketing, product development, operations
  • Prior P&L and general management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, build and motivate cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed business environment
  • Keen understanding of the components and intricacies involved in highly engineered products; with the necessary insights into the many disciplines required in the development of quality products in a cost sensitive, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • You know your way around a manufacturing plant, including equipment, mass production processes, quality, testing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline; MBA preferred
