The executive recruiting firm Saenger Associates has been exclusively retained to find a Senior Buyer for one of the nation’s top home furnishings retailers. Our client, a Los Angeles based privately held company, maintains e-commerce sites and operates retail showrooms across the western United States and has an immediate need for a Senior Buyer with expertise in retail merchandising.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Division Merchandise Manager, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for product assortment planning, working with product development and vendors to achieve the maximum gross margin dollar and sales goals established by management. Specific responsibilities include:
• Managing and purchasing the full assortment on a regular basis. Achieve gross margin and inventory turnover objectives set by management.
• Analyze trends and develop new products to always on trend assortment to keep us competitive.
• Plan advertising for the year, projecting ad sales on product, selecting merchandise where maximum sales and setting proper stock levels.
• Communicate with stores to resolve problems, questions and/or provide pertinent information needed.
• Communicate closely with Internet marketing to optimize on-line sales.
• Solve everyday problems and communicate with key executives, including, Planning, QA, special orders, parts, and RGA's.
• Maximize relationships with vendors that serve the needs of the business.
• Conceptualize and follow through on new programs to build and strengthen the business.
• Plan and maintain space available at store level, through working with display management.
• Supervise, train, and motivate the Assistant Buyers for future promotion within the organization.
• Perform other duties assigned by manager.
Requirements:
• Seven to Ten years buying experience in a retail sales organization.
• Four-year college degree. Must have good analytical, communication and phone skills.
• The incumbent will be required to travel internationally several times a year.
• Retail experience working in an E-commerce, omni-channel business, utilizing site centric merchandising strategies.
• Position requires sitting for long periods of time.
