The executive recruiting consulting firm of Saenger Associates has been exclusively retained to search for the position of Vice President of Engineering.Our Client, located in Southern California, is a major advanced technology division of an industry leading multi-billion dollar aerospace and defense company. The business is profitable with outstanding growth prospects.

Our client designs and manufactures highly sophisticated electron devices, space systems and microwave assemblies for application on communication satellites and radar systems.

Summary

The Vice President of Engineering will report to the President. The Vice President of Engineering will lead the engineering team in the creation, development, design and improvement of products and systems in conformance with programs and objectives. They will coordinate and organize project and task workloads; and will direct the organization to ensure progress according to technical directives within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.The Vice President of Engineering will advise and recommend major changes in procedures or objectives, generally operating with considerable latitude for unreviewed action or decision

Description

  • Direct a large staff of multi-disciplined engineers and managers while performing technical work in the development, design and production of Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) and Electronic Power Conditioned (EPC) Microwave Assemblies in coordination of Company Business Plans.
  • Prepare departmental budgets; establishes procedures for evaluating equipment performance and recommends improvements for new and existing products.
  • Develop and/or improve engineering processes used to facilitate successful program implementation and production efficiencies.
  • Responsible for providing technical guidance and support to the Sales/Marketing and Operations organizations.

 Requirements

  • Experience managing budgets in excess of $20Million a year
  • Strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills
  • A change agent
  • Ability to team with Operations organization to produce products on time and within budget
  • Experience working with Department of Defense and military customers
  • Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Engineering or Physics required; PhD degree in Engineering or Physics strongly preferred, MBA a plus
