Position Overview
An industry-leading construction firm in McKinney, TX, is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead bids, conceptual estimating, and preconstruction efforts for high-value projects exceeding $50 million. This role requires a construction professional with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a well-established network of subcontractors in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in developing competitive and accurate proposals, overseeing project takeoffs, and driving successful project buyouts. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead bids, conceptual estimating, and preconstruction efforts for large-scale projects ($50M+).
  • Develop and manage accurate project takeoffs and ensure detailed organization of cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather competitive pricing and maintain strong industry relationships.
  • Oversee bid tabulation techniques, analyze costs, and contribute to project buyouts.
  • Utilize tools like Google Sheets, Microsoft Suite, and advanced estimating software to streamline processes.
  • Provide strategic insights on construction means and methods, spec sections, and trade applications.
  • Continuously improve preconstruction processes and identify areas for operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of estimating experience on projects valued at $50M or more.
  • Strong knowledge of preconstruction processes, from proposals to project buyout.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Expertise in construction means and methods, unit pricing, and trade-specific specifications.
  • Exceptional communication and active listening skills with confidence in engaging subcontractors and project partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a focus on internal and external customer service.
