The Manager of Philanthropic Engagement will serve as a key member of the Development team, charged with designing a number of funder engagement programs and strategies as a means toward increasing the capacity of the Institute to inspire new donors and current funder community. The Manager will focus on individual donors/prospects in the NY, DC, and Boston metro areas as well as consult with Regional Directors across North America to support them in developing local donor cultivation strategies. This professional should have a strong passion for the mission of the Hartman Institute and a strong track record with building donor cultivation programs and strategies. Based in NY, with the option of being part-time, this professional will report to the Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
Giving Society - Launch and oversee the Hartman Giving Society for annual donors in the $10K-$50K range.
Donor Portfolio- Develop, manage and grow portfolio of donors in the $3,600-$15,000 range – focus on NY Metro area – creating community/network of funders in NY area. Pursue major gifts for priority programs and activity from major funders/Foundations.
Committee/Campaign Support - Staff Development committee and Annual Board Campaign.
Support Development Programming- Plan, coordinate, recruit for and support implementation of ongoing, annual and special events/programming taking place on a local and international level.
Support Regional Fundraising Activity- Development planning and implementation and strategic consultation and support of regional managers doing development programming, events and cultivation locally in regions across North America.
Special Projects– Coordinate and assist with special projects and other activities that promote efforts of Development as the need emerges.
5-8 years of experience and demonstrated success working with donors, lay leaders, and committee members to advance fundraising programming and events;
Superior relational skills;
Highly professional, customer-service oriented demeanor;
Takes initiative and executes on new ideas;
Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented;
Passion for SHI NA’s mission;
Excellent communication skills;
Able to manage multiple complex tasks;
Experience working directly with lay leaders and Board Committees in a major non-profit and/or Jewish organization;
Familiarity with Jewish philanthropic landscape in North America;
Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-energy environment;
Track record of demonstrating sound judgment by making appropriate decisions and knowing when to communicate and when to take initiative;
Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively;
Flexible work style with the ability to work under tight deadlines and with shifting priorities;
Ability to staff occasional evening and weekend programs;
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – proven ability using Excel and PowerPoint
Hebrew familiarity a plus;
Good sense of humor;
BA / BS or equivalent.
Salary range and benefits:$80,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience. Very competitive benefits package.
