Ponderosa is currently accepting applications for a Network Facilities Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative team. Under the direction of the Network Design Manager, the Network Facilities Engineer will be responsible for engineering outside plant facilities to meet customer demands for service while complying with RUS specifications; inspection of work orders and contract construction, as well as rearrangements of existing outside plant facilities to maximize plant utilization.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engineer, stake, and develop plans and specifications for customer service drops and outside plant cable facilities, including applicable RUS specifications.
  • Engineer, stake, and develop plans and specifications for main line fiber projects including applicable RUS specifications.
  • Research cable fills, transmission design specifications and rights-of-way for projects.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and complete work order packages.
  • Coordinate completion and cut-over of work orders with Field Operations and Network Operations.
  • Prepare contracts of assigned projects for submission to contractors/vendors.
  • Actively interfaces with customers concerning service order requirements.
  • Review and make contact with customers on complaints resulting from contract work order activity.
  • Actively interfaces with developers and governmental agencies concerning parcel splits, subdivisions, and zoning changes.
  • Inspects projects in progress for compliance with RUS specifications.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in electronic engineering, land surveying or related field desirable.
  • 4 years’ experience as an Assistant Network Facilities Engineer, Telephone Technician (Central Office, Installation, Repair or Combination Technician), Line Assigner, CAD Operator, or similar position.
  • Computer literate with an emphasis on Microsoft Office and functional knowledge of CAD/GIS systems software.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic transport, fiber to the home, fiber to the curb, cable splicing and assignment for copper and fiber.
  • Knowledge of RUS 515 symbols and procedures as well as data and special circuit design parameters.
  • Proficiency in reading and preparing engineering and splicing schematics.
  • Proficiency in reading and developing as-built prints.
  • Proficiency in reading record-of-survey maps and Assessor’s Parcel information.
  • Conceptual understanding of basic DC and AC electronics.
  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted class “C” drivers license with a driving record that provides insurability under the Company’s vehicle insurance carrier and within the guidelines of the Company.

 

Position offers a competitive salary between $33 - $43 per hour with generous employer paid benefits.
