The Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board (FRWDB) is seeking to hire an experienced and motivated Workshop Instructor. If you have a passion for facilitating workshops and an enthusiastic presentation style, we would love to speak with you about this awesome opportunity!

The Instructor will present program curriculum to both individuals and groups using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The ideal candidate will have bilingual abilities to provide instruction in both English and Spanish.

Under the general direction of the Program Manager, this position provides leadership within the program through high quality, dynamic workshop facilitation, structured coaching of proven skills, engagement of customers in group and team activities, and the provision of group workshops to include the sharing of information about community resources.

FRWDB is a Joint Powers Authority between the City and County of Fresno, with a business-led model to help local organizations meet their workforce needs.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize and lead dynamic workshops that are culturally competent, using nonjudgement and supportive approaches to meet customers where they are and help them reach their goals.
  • Ensure curriculum fidelity by facilitating the curriculum as designed, participating in professional development activities, and developing a mastery of the content.
  • Ensure customers are building competency in the skills taught in the curriculum through communication coaching.
  • Observe and assess customers’ performance, behavior, and social development, providing evaluations to case managers during and throughout customers’ participation in the workshops.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and oversight of customers to ensure they are engaged and participating.
  • Maintain accurate workshop data, including attendance rosters, evaluations, and other reporting documents.
  • Facilitate occasional small and large group learning opportunities with additional content as necessary.
  • Ensure proper communication of service progress updates, challenges, or opportunities for improvement to project team and participate in ongoing program development.
  • Serve as mentor/coach to program participants.
  • Speak in front of diverse audiences and conduct formal and informal presentations through a variety of modalities.
  • Use collaborative approaches to build support for objectives; build positive relationships; effective and timely dissemination of information; recognize and respect diverse ideas.
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports related to assigned activities.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership abilities and communication skills both in written format and oral presentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4)-year college or university with a Major in Public Administration, Business Administration, Communication, English, Marketing, Political Science, Law, or a closely related field OR six (6) years of directly related work experience in group instruction or workshop facilitation.
  • A valid California Driver’s License, personal automobile liability insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of work experience in civic activities, community engagement and/or vocational programs for which the position would benefit.
  • Highly organized with effective communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

 

Position offers a competitive salary between $23.67 - $26.67 per hour with an anticipated 20-hour work week.
