Peninsula Plastics Recycling, a division of Merlin Group of Companies, is a full-service plastics recycler and processor that specializes in baling, sorting, grinding, washing, pelletizing, and solid stating of recycled PET from the California CRV system. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Extrusion Department Manager will be responsible for directing all extrusion department staff and ensuring the smooth running of the extrusion and solid stating process. This position ensures that all products are produced to the designated specifications and production targets and material yields are met in order to achieve customer requirements.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Follow and enforce all applicable plant, safety, housekeeping, maintenance, and security rules.
• Supervise, train, and work hand in hand with shift employees.
• Coordinate activities between other shifts, quality control, shipping and receiving, and maintenance.
• Perform daily inspections of major operating equipment and work areas, correct any problems and record all deficiencies in operating and processing conditions.
• Ensure that all required employee (operator) activities are performed on each shift per the employee (operator) performance checklist and published job duties.
• Manage department activities to meet or exceed production and material yield targets while assuring product meets quality specifications.
• Maintain a clean and efficient department through housekeeping and implementation of Lean 5S principles.
• Document production results including downtime, input pounds, output pounds, waste, etc.
• Develop and implement ways to improve safety, increase productivity, improve product quality, reduce operating costs, and minimize waste.
• Perform employee evaluations and recommend disciplinary actions to human resources and production manager.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• High School Diploma required (College degree preferred)
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• 5+ years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Should have extrusion process experience in PET resins and solid stating processes.
• Must be experienced in safety procedures, quality procedures, good manufacturing procedures, and good maintenance procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem solving.
• Understanding basic characteristics of different types of plastics including basic knowledge of material handling.
• Should have some basic knowledge and experience using personal computers and related software.

Position offers a competitive annual salary between $80,000 - $120,000 plus incentive pay for achieving performance targets. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, PTO, Sick Time, and 401(k) with Company match.
