We are seeking a qualified and resourceful Human Resources Generalist to support our HR department in ensuring smooth and compliant business operations. This role involves a range of responsibilities including leave administration, workers’ compensation, investigations, and general HR functions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.
  • Administer and manage all mandated leaves of absence processes including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, and Military leaves; track leave statuses and maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee Workers’ Compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting, proactive communication with third parties, and effective case management from notification to closure.
  • Conduct and document investigations related to internal employee claims, including discrimination, harassment, and workplace conflicts; collaborate with the HR Manager to recommend resolutions.
  • Process employee separations in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and final documentation.
  • Respond to third-party employee-related inquiries such as employment verifications, EDD claims, and hearings in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and audit employee files and documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to retention guidelines.
  • Assist in OSHA-related record-keeping and reporting.
  • Perform individualized assessments of applicants with criminal background check results; document findings and ensure consistent and compliant hiring practices.
  • Provide back-up support for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in data entry and compliance with deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with the HR Manager, CFO, and General Managers to address organizational needs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Two to four years of human resources experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Valid California Driver’s License required.

Position offers a competitive salary between $26.50 - $33.00 per hour with benefits including medical, dental, vision, PTO, sick time, 401(k), and Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
