Echocardiography Technician

Position Summary

Assists the physicians in echocardiography testing of the patients. Assists nursing personnel during clinical hours whenever possible. This individual will need to have a proficient knowledge of cardiac echo equipment. Will need to work independently and with the cardiology teams when needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Dedicated to serving the PMC’s patients with a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Willing to work on tasks that are outside of this job description or the assigned department in order to accomplish the organizational goals.
  • Respects fellow employees by treating them professionally and courteously.
  • Perform echocardiography, doppler and color flow on all patients.
  • Assist the physician in cardiac echo stress testing.
  • Maintain the Philips Affiniti CVX 70 equipment necessary for all echo testing.
  • Order supplies needed for designated area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications): Associates degree in Echocardiography or a related field required. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required.

 

Experience: Two years' experience in a clinical or hospital environment preferred.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.
  • Skill in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.
  • Knowledge of echocardiography and all of the equipment involved in such testing. Able to run a 12-lead EKG. Able to assist with treadmill testing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situation.

Travel Requirements: No travel is expected for this position
