Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for all Ambulatory Surgical Center and clinic operations including but not limited to the oversight of capital and operating budgets, regulatory compliance, clinical performance, human resources management, service excellence, and other support services of the facility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory bodies including AAAHC, OSHA, CMS, DOPL, and other department-specific accrediting and certifying bodies. Ensures day to day operations support on-going accrediting activities and standards are continually aligned.
  • Accountable to inform system strategic plan on specific needs of the ASC and clinic. Acts to ensure implementation of the strategic plan, adjusting to changing market and business needs.
  • Partners in the strategy deployment process as part of a senior leadership team plus other leaders to ensure clinical programs, new clinical services, and clinical excellence objectives are achieved.
  • Exercises the day-to-day administration, operation, and maintenance of the ASC and clinic operations. Ensures operations conform to all standards and programs. This will include the hiring, on-boarding, and if necessary, dismissals of clinical and non-clinical staff for the ASC and the practice staff.
  • Coordinates the preparation of and adherence to capital and operational budgets. Works closely with finance to achieve financial objectives.
  • Maintains a list of all contracted services, including the scope and nature of the services provided.
  • Ensures proper allocation of human resources to ensure quality care is provided in a cost-effective way. Responsible to work with the HR leadership and other leaders to create and maintain a positive work environment that fosters a highly engaged workforce.
  • Accountable, along with the senior leadership team, to ensure service excellence measures are achieved.
  • Focuses efforts of departments on safety, quality care and regulatory compliance plus internal standards and policies. Ensures ASC and clinic is compliant with all regulatory standards and laws. Serves as a member of all quality and governance committees and provides support as needed, to include organizing agendas and compiling data and reports. Develops methods and systems to collect performance data.
  • Partners with physician department leadership to ensure high physician engagement and positive working relationships with physicians.
  • Supports physician & APP recruitment activities and partners with appropriate departments.
  • Facilitates the leadership development process for the assigned leadership team and non-direct reports, including leadership coaching, succession planning, and support development planning.
  • Communicates and presents important operational information to and from areas of responsibility including leadership teams and caregiver groups.
  • Maintains oversight of all Risk Management activities in collaboration with purchased services and ensures appropriate communication to the physicians and section leadership.
  • Ensures the ASC and clinic has adequate computer systems relevant to business and clinical functions, in conjunction with IS leadership.
  • Works with revenue cycle to support successful accounts receivable management and revenue capture.
  • Ensures the ASC and clinic are well maintained and cleaned on an on-going basis to meet the needs of daily operations, staff, physicians, and patients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. MBA, MHA, or other related Master’s degree is strongly desired.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.

 

Experience:

  • Ambulatory Surgical Center operations experience required.
  • Five years of experience in a progressively responsible leadership position within the healthcare industry.
  • Three years of experience in a progressively responsible leadership position within the healthcare industry.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and medical instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before patients, families, physicians, or employees of the organization. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dosages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and develop, recommends, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Supervision and Travel Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall supervision management team who is responsible for clinical and non-clinical ASC staff.

 

Travel Requirements: 50% Ability to travel to assigned locations and to other sites as needed for meetings and training.
