TITLE: Payroll Manager
DEPARTMENT: Finance
STATUS: Salary, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Finance Director
Primary Purpose: This position must assume responsibility for overseeing the employees and processes that ensure that all our employees are paid timely and accurately, payroll tax deposits filed on time, terminations processed, and employee work authorizations are verified all within the constraints of applicable federal and state law as well as ensure accurate and timely payment/direct deposit of all corporate employees on a weekly basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurate and timely preparation of corporate payroll
- Assist in the filing of unemployment claims for corporate employees
- Provide employment verifications and prepare written documentation for employees as necessary
- Responsible for preparing for any/all MA DUA audits
- Responsible for oversight of weekly payroll production for more than 2,000 employees across 4 states
- Maintain open lines of communication interdepartmentally
- Creation/revision of new policies affecting payroll processes
- Often involved in training of new employees
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Maintain current knowledge of payroll tax regulations
- Supervise and mentor the payroll team to ensure consistent performance and promote professional development

- Ability to work under pressure with time sensitive deadlines
- Self-motivated in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extremely detail oriented
- Knowledgeable in subject matter (Payroll)
- Prior management experience
- Skilled at working independently as well as collaborating with others
- Experience working with HR/Payroll software; Kronos preferred
