Job Summary:
The Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the cement production process, ensuring efficient and effective production while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
• Plan, organize, and oversee the cement production process from raw material handling to final product dispatch.
• Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
• Monitor production metrics and adjust processes to ensure efficiency and product quality.
Team Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production staff, including operators, technicians, and supervisors.
• Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and training opportunities
Quality Control:
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications throughout the production process.
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
• Coordinate with the Quality Assurance department to address any non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
Health and Safety:
• Promote and enforce a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
• Lead incident investigations and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
• Partner with safety to promote NCC policy and MSHA regulation compliance.
Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and track their impact on production performance.
Budget and Cost Management:
• Develop and manage the production budget, including labor, materials, and maintenance costs.
• Monitor and control production expenses to achieve financial targets.
• Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials and supplies.
Audit and approve e-time for hourly employees on a daily and weekly basis
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a production management role within the cement or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of cement production processes, equipment, and technologies.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong understanding of quality control principles and health and safety regulations.
• Proficient in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
• Experience with automated production systems and advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in the cement industry.
Working Conditions:
• This role involves working in both office and plant environments.
• May require occasional travel to other company locations or for training purposes.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet production demands.
