Sparrow Company is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Site Supervisor for a well-established building materials company in Vado, NM. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant site operations, including safety, environment, production, maintenance, quality, financial performance, and employee relations. The Site Supervisor will partner with the Area Manager to optimize plant processes, costs, and performance while ensuring a strong culture of safety and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant and ensure compliance with company policies, MSHA, OSHA, and environmental standards.
• Lead employees, contractors, and drivers in executing safe, compliant plant operations, including extraction, production, maintenance, inspections, and product distribution.
• Manage daily plant operations, including scheduling, staffing, production processes, and contractor oversight to achieve volume and cost goals.
• Oversee plant maintenance for all business lines, balancing preventive maintenance and repair costs to maximize equipment life and availability.
• Maintain required recordkeeping for regulatory compliance (MSHA/OSHA/environmental).
• Collaborate with the Quality Control team to meet production targets and ensure products meet applicable specifications and testing requirements.
• Work with procurement and vendors to secure necessary parts and services while managing costs and lead times.
• Support environmental compliance and reclamation initiatives.
• Assist with investigations related to accidents, safety incidents, or environmental concerns.
• Determine staffing needs, assist with interviewing and hiring, and provide guidance for workforce development.
• Utilize KPIs, financial statements, and operational reports to track performance, identify improvements, and implement effective action plans.
• Maintain a positive company image and foster strong community and employee relations.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in asphalt, manufacturing, aggregates, or related building materials industry.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or management experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with planning, budgeting, and cost management.
• Strong Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations.
• Familiarity with heavy mobile and fixed plant equipment used in asphalt or aggregate production.

Preferred:

• Broader industry knowledge across building materials, aggregates, ready-mix, and asphalt.
• Understanding of equipment and processes in the ready-mix concrete and asphalt industries.

• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication with employees, managers, and senior leadership.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate employees, resolve conflicts, and maintain smooth operations.
• Time Management: Skilled in prioritizing tasks to meet production deadlines and shipping requirements.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial and plant equipment related to asphalt and aggregate production.
