A well-established healthcare facility is seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with experience in obstetrics and gynecology to support its clinical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians in patient care, managing clinical documentation, and supporting the daily operations of a busy OBGYN clinic. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients; welcome them to the clinic, take brief medical histories, and record vital signs.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for examinations and procedures, and ensure exam rooms are turned over promptly.
- Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures, including prepping instruments and acting as scrub or circulator as needed.
- Prepare patients for special procedures and ensure proper consent forms are completed.
- Review medical charts for completeness and gather relevant reports, such as labs, imaging, and surgical history.
- Prepare and deliver lab specimens following protocol; ensure accurate labeling and documentation.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and medications; perform regular checks for expiration and restock as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment; uphold infection control standards and sterilization procedures.
- Support the front desk with scheduling appointments, answering calls, and patient registration.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff or newly hired Medical Assistants as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and assist in preparation for inspections by regulatory bodies.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to provide sealed transcripts.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification from an approved certifying agency (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
- CPR certification required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a clinical setting, with at least one (1) year in an OBGYN environment strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard clinic equipment (vital signs monitors, autoclaves, etc.).
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently or as part of a team.
