Mining Fixed Plant Expert

We are currently seeking a Mining Fixed Plant Expert to join our team in Nashville, TN. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of OSS. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence and will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze plant productivity issues and provide plan for improvements.
  • Analyze current maintenance practices and develop corrective action plans for improvements.
  • Assist in fixed plant equipment failure root cause analysis and repair.
  • Organize and schedule process improvement teams to find and improve plant efficiencies.
  • Organize and schedule equipment training for plant personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with plant operations personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors who design, install and maintain crushing plants and equipment.
  • Analyze aggregate fixed plant financials and the impact on departmental budgets relative to plant improvements.
  • Manage and update fixed plant maintenance database.
  • Extensive overnight travel required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, mechanical engineering, geological engineering, or closely related is preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably construction materials (limestone, sandstone, granite, sand and gravel).
  • Possess extensive knowledge of operation and maintenance of aggregate equipment (crushers, screens, sand processing equipment, conveyors, etc) and new technologies.
  • Experience in managing large and small mining operations and excelling at managing costs and improving thru-put.
  • Proven track record of applying process improvement methodologies to production process (i.e. Six Sigma, TQM, etc.)
  • Strong preventative maintenance background of fixed plant components.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to use AggFlow and other analysis tools to identify bottlenecks and devise solutions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with plant management and engineering.
