Supply Chain Manager Manager

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Transportation Management

  • Oversee end-to-end inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective material and product movement.
  • Select, manage, and negotiate contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
  • Optimize transportation routes and shipping rates to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and carriers to troubleshoot delivery issues and minimize disruptions.
  • Develop robust logistics processes and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor logistics costs.

Inventory & Warehouse Management

  • Manage warehouse inventory levels, ensuring real-time tracking and accuracy in stock records.
  • Implement systems and processes to prevent shortages, overstocking, and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, handling procedures, and quality standards in warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate with local logistics providers to ensure the seamless receipt and distribution of equipment and materials.

Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners.
  • Monitor supplier performance and compliance with contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Support supplier localization efforts, particularly for steel and other materials.
  • Source and purchase local indirect materials, including metal scrap collectors.

Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Monitor and manage logistics budgets, identifying opportunities for cost reductions while maintaining service levels.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize procurement, inventory, and distribution processes.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies while ensuring operational efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance & Customs Management

  • Manage IMMEX/VAT certificate applications and establish an appropriate business model for the JW Mexico factory.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, import/export laws, and customs procedures.
  • Proactively manage unexpected logistics, purchasing, and customs-related challenges.

Continuous Improvement & Strategy Development

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, shipping regulations, and emerging logistics technologies.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to improve overall supply chain operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or distribution management in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role overseeing logistics and warehouse operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican import/export regulations, customs compliance, and freight forwarding practices.
  • Experience managing transportation, warehouse operations, and supplier relationships.
  • Strong negotiation skills for carrier and supplier contract management.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems (ERP, WMS, TMS, etc.).
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) – must be able to communicate effectively with international suppliers and corporate leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex supply chain challenges.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points)

  • Experience in startup manufacturing operations and setting up logistics from scratch.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other supply chain optimization methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations related to warehouse and transportation.
  • Experience implementing digital tracking and automation tools for supply chain efficiency.
